DM: “Donald Trump unveiled a far-reaching childcare tax-deduction plan Tuesday night, but 18-month-old Tristan Murphy stole the show. The toddler fidgeted and waved at reporters from his mom Shannon’s arms in the back of the Aston Community Center in a suburb of Philadelphia.”

WSJ: “Mr. Trump’s proposal calls for allowing taxpayers—both those who take the standard deduction and those who itemize deductions—to deduct child-care expenses up to an amount equal to the average cost of care in their state. The deduction wouldn’t be available to individuals earning more than $250,000, or couples earning $500,000.
He proposed six weeks of paid maternity leave through unemployment benefits to parents whose employers don’t offer it now. Republicans have long resisted the idea of having the U.S. emulate other countries’ paid-leave programs, warning about budgetary costs and government mandates. The Trump campaign said the cost—roughly $2.5 billion a year, according to a senior aide—would be offset by reducing waste and abuse in the unemployment insurance program.
The Trump proposal would offer “spending rebates” of as much as $1,200 a year to lower-income families through the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Mr. Trump also called for a new savings account for families to save for caring for their children or elderly parents. The account could also be used for school tuition and after-school enrichment programs

Ivanka: “This is not a women’s issue. It’s a family issue. It’s an American issue.”

Hillary has yet to present a plan.
