Chicago Mayor Emanuel spoke in Washington today about the need to pass legislation in order to reduce gun violence. He seeks more limits on magazines, semiautomatics, and criminal’s ability to acquire guns. Time is of essence and, once again, nothing was mentioned about the mentally ill. Chicago is one of the nation’s most heavily gun controlled cities yet there were over 500 shooting deaths last year.
Obama today: “My starting point is not to worry about the politics. My starting point is to focus on what makes sense, what works, what should we be doing to make sure our children are safe. I think we can do that in a sensible way that comports with the Second Amendment. … I’m confident there are some steps we can take that don’t require legislation.”
Fox today: “President Obama renewed his threat Monday to use executive orders to push through controversial gun control measures with or without Congress’ blessing.”

So by taking away the people’s “assault” weapons, this in turn reduces a criminal’s access to them? So your limiting civilain rights to bear arms, our constitutional right, mean while criminals will find other means to get weapons, they’re criminals, they do not care about gun laws or how they get weapons. giving them the upper hand over any civilian, armed or unarmed. This help prevent violence how? “Chicago is one of the nation’s most heavily gun controlled cities yet there were over 500 shooting deaths last year.” Explain how more gun control help then? Obviously that doesn’t stop criminals from getting weapons.
