This afternoon Obama and the congressional leaders are set to meet at the White House in another ‘last ditch’ effort. Once again Obama brings no plan, only hope for change to move forward. He returned early from Hawaii, 18 hours of golf, leaving the family behind, to meet again with these four for the first time since November 16th, and called for a less ambitious approach.
Yesterday Reid said it looked like the nation was going to miss it’s deadline. The general consensus is we have passed the point where there is ample time to put together new legislation and pass it.
Reid: “The American people I don’t think understand the House of Representatives is operating without the House of Representatives. It’s being operated with the dictatorship of the Speaker…”
Boehner spokesman: “Senator Reid should talk less and legislate more. The House has already passed legislation to avoid the entire fiscal cliff. Senate Democrats have not.”
House bills are sitting in the Senate. Reid is accusing Boehner and the GOP of stalling, unable to move forward with solutions to America’s problems, yet Obama has no plan as leader of the country and Reid has never passed a budget. Now he’s throwing the onus back into Boehner’s court while passed tax and spending legislation remains in Reid’s ‘desk drawer’.
The only purpose in this meeting is frontpage facetime for the ever supporting news media followers. What is preventing Obama or the liberals from stopping the plunge over the Obama Cliff? Let them own it, it will not be long before the deficit money must be approved by the House.
