Those opening words, ‘Space, the final frontier’…, were so very true. The freedom of the Internet, those virgin days, the roots of the Rand proposal, a network with no central authority, multiple data paths, redirection, rerouting, data streaming, and eventually packet switching. In the late ’60′s ARPANET was created evolving eventually into the Internet, interface cards, OS, TCP/IP, Internet addresses, software, Internet connections…, and a new freedom to communicate. Way back when, servers provided push and pull technology to allow email.

Over the weekend a KC football player shot his wife and later himself in an event which the news media, similar to so many instances before, ignored everything but Second Amendment rights. What was said about the daughter, now an orphan? All of the tunnel vision on women’s rights yet the mother of the daughter, shot nine times, who mentioned her? The details on the football player were released days later, well after the frontpaged headlines of the catastrophe which could have been averted by eliminating gun ownership. The guy should not have been out of the care of a psychiatrist.

Listen to another one of these sports people butting into a political subject during the middle of a professional event. How many people watch and/or read sports for political opinions?

Hollywood firewalls actors who express conservative views. Limbaugh was dumped from ESPN for politics. Colleges reject conservative speakers. The news media fires them and rejects others with that perspective. It will be a cold day in hell before you see one leading the evening news at anywhere other than Fox.

There is an effort to force cell phone companies to save personal messages for two years. A story just surfaced, “Everyone in US under virtual surveillance,” describing the monitor as already being implemented. Has our final frontier been poisoned? Is the big brother transition to Obama squirrels already in effect?
