Two hundred and thirty six years ago today a document was signed to create the American republic. The Declaration of Independence established both freedom and limited government, for the people, by the people. Lessons learned from the early Pilgrim days taught us the benefits of free enterprise. America was founded on the idea of self-reliance.
Consider today’s society, how has self-reliance changed over the course of time?
- Today 1 in 5 depend on some form of government handout
- Last year, during our recovery, that dependency increased 8.1%
- It takes 70% of government’s budget, our tax dollars, to fund the dependencies yet half collecting do not pay tax
- Most of that budget is focused on housing, health, and retirement. In the near future almost 80 Million baby boomers will be retiring.
Flags positioned in front of military graves were recently vandalized. Residents are being forced to defend their right to fly a flag in front of their home in court. Children can no longer say the Pledge. Even so, the government welcomes your flag doormats, made in China, at the front door, back door…, today, tomorrow…, to spread the American dependency cheer.
