He’s so opposed to same-sex marriage, he told church members he will no longer support the president and now predicts Obama will lose the election because of it.
He and many other leaders are pouring their energies into gathering the signatures needed to put Maryland’s same-sex marriage law on the November ballot.
When Obama announced that his position on same-sex marriage had evolved, it outraged some African-American pastors like Pastor and Del. Emmett Burns.

Priests and pastors stepped up to a hot bully pulpit once again on Sunday to denounce the sacrilegious connotations endorsed by America’s first gay president. Remember, voters in 32 states have rejected gay marriage. We have said it before, our Constitution mandated sovereignty be located outside the government.

As America’s first black president, Barack Obama has enjoyed a strong backing from African-Americans, as well as African natives. However, his recent backing of same-sex marriage has shaken the faith of what was once an unwavering community of supporters. For many in the black community, same-sex is indeed a matter of faith as much as it is a social issue. Whether Obama’s support for homosexuals hurts his standing with black voters remains to be seen.
