Nancy Brinker, a breast cancer survivor, started the Komen Foundation after her sister, Susan, died of the disease. I have participated in runs for the cure and have shirts hanging in a closet somewhere. News media followers got a hold of the foundation’s intentions to drop Planned Parenthood from their donation list and the frontpage barking began. Liberals being liberals, suddenly Komen was about to sell out the people.
A short media war ensued and the Komen Foundation apologized. AP: “The Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast-cancer charity on Friday abandoned plans to eliminate grants to Planned Parenthood. The startling decision came after three days of virulent criticism that resounded across the Internet, jeopardizing Komen’s iconic image.”
In the above jpeg a new record was set in the race for a cure. It has always been a race for a cure. Numbers from oncology departments throughout the nation demonstrate the cure is working, statistics are remarkably above what we thought was possible.
Regardless of how the foundation handled what, in the end, bottom line is obvious to everyone, most certainly the liberals and news media followers. Susan G Komen is about life.
