This May will be the first year since a tornado wiped out Joplin. The devastation was overwhelming, the rebuilding continues, the people are strong. Unlike Katrina and Rita, the community relied less upon government. Obama was eating steak after the beer fest in Ireland while Joplin searched for it’s survivors. On the 4th Rushed arrived with a truckload of tea. Private corporations stepped in and helped the effort.

AP today: “Eight months after a tornado laid waste to much of this city, Joplin is wrestling with an emotional question: Should the community market its devastated neighborhoods to tourists?”
To this day tours in New Orleans continue, after almost 60% or $7 Billion in grants were approved, so much fraud, and so many leaving the state. I cannot find how much was received by Joplin before it was cut off but the total offered by Obama was $1.8 Billion and Alabama received $65 Million. In June Southeast MO counties had been supplied $5.8 Million. Who do you think won Missouri in 2008?
