HARVARD: JULY 4TH UNPATRIOTIC

The 4th has always been a great day to get up and watch parades or even better be there to see them. The floats, flags, fireman, clowns, cars of every type, all the things being thrown out into the crowds, and if you were luck fighter jets. Sometimes there are rides in the area and often bar-b-q’s nearby. So much going on it can be hard to remember the celebration behind everything.

Harvard: July 4th Parades Are Right-Wing: “The political right has been more successful in appropriating American patriotism and its symbols during the 20th century. Survey evidence also confirms that Republicans consider themselves more patriotic than Democrats. According to this interpretation, there is a political congruence between the patriotism promoted on Fourth of July and the values associated with the Republican party. Fourth of July celebrations in Republican dominated counties may thus be more politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans.”

The above came from an article written by 2 Harvard professors. They say go on to say: “Fourth of July celebrations in Republican dominated counties may thus be more politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans.”

This story protects Obama’s fight against patriotism, the 4th of July. Rather than marching in this parade they instead gather in protest of gays, illegals, unions, health care… How does the 4th defy liberals?
