Does America have what is necessary to pull us out of this deep dark cold deficit? The liberals do not. At this time the batteries in our alarms are running low and it’s up to the people to either take preventative action or begin inhaling the smoke.
In the first week of February of his first year in office Obama demonstrated his bipartisan change of tone during a stimulus discussion as to how this spending would affect our economy saying: “if it’s spending, it’s stimulus. And if it’s full of earmarks, well, stuff happens.” This was an impromptu off teleprompter response reflecting his frustration with the dissenting GOP. One must ask how much money America has contributed to how many foreign countries and ask why it failed to stimulate?
Huffington Post, Confirm Solis Now, Feb 2009: “Labor Secretary-Designate Hilda Solis, remains in political purgatory thanks to conservative objections to a long overdue piece of legislation that will make it easier for workers to form unions. Rep. Solis has not only been a champion on environmental issues, but has also been a key proponent of the Employee Free Choice Act, a vital piece of legislation that would allow workers to form a union when a majority have signed cards in support of unionization. This would help end the organized campaigns of intimidation, firings, and other reprisals by management that frequently accompany National Labor Relations Board-sponsored elections.”
CNN: “The Labor Secretary told the crowd cuts in benefits isn’t the issue in the dispute playing out in Wisconsin and other states. “We know, we know that many states are facing tough budget decisions. We know that there is room for shared sacrifice. Shared sacrifice. And we’ve seen our brothers and sisters in public employee unions willingly give up… fair share and to negotiate. They have all offered to negotiate in good faith to help their states stay afloat, even in these tough times.”
But she claimed, “the governors in Wisconsin and Ohio aren’t just asking workers to tighten their belts, they’re demanding they give up their uniquely American rights as workers”, Solis said, later adding public employees “want to be at the table. But it’s not what the other party wants”.”
What does America want, unions work for us. What percentage of our country do unions represent? Why can’t the Wisconsin locals represent themselves in their protest instead of all of the buss-ins, news media, and Obama behind the scenes assistance? Which government employees have collective bargaining? Which side of America is Obama on?
Solis is correct in that elections do matter, Obama won and appointed her to reinstate the previously defeated Employee Free Choice Act. Sec Solis, the people elected new governors last November. Obama provides union benefits to secure campaign funds, taxpayer money which generates nothing. Our batteries are very weak.
