Obama takeover of American automotive was done to save the market, save it’s jobs, save the jobs of all related industries, save banks, housing, education, everything. Besides government, unions, and bailed out companies now seating someone new on their board of directors. Who is happy today?
Cap and trade did not make it into the comeback kid’s lame duck trophy case so he back doored it through the EPA as yet another regulation and we never learned about it until last week. Remember all of the promised change to be open and up front with the people? The northeast was covered with the white stuff and literally shutdown while Obama called the Eagles to congratulate Vick. SUV’s have been the hot ticket item.
We have had 2 new CAFE standards, the second which only the Volt prototype is capable of supporting. These vehicles offer no interior room, a non-consideration for those of us who are above average height. We did not whine about the sports cars in which we did not fit, there were always other options. Prototype 1 takes more than 6 hours to charge and it will only drive 40 miles. What about the people who live 40+ miles away from their jobs? A majority of them drive SUVs. Each needs gas. Remember the batteries are made in Korea.
Sales totals for Obama Motors in 2010 on the Volt are about 300, I do not know how many GE purchased. At sticker, $40,280, the profit margin is about $1,000 but Obama is giving away tax rebates. There is no way of knowing what value they are to you let alone how long Obama will honor them, we’re broke. AP wrote about the new Nissan and all of the facetime the buyers received but there were single digit sales across the nation. Although this car can recharge off a normal outlet and gets 100 miles per charge, it takes almost a day.
It’s like ObamaCare all over again, the articulate black guy is making decisions for us and refusing our input. Is he too stupid to understand what the Tea Party said or does he not care?
How have green jobs improved employment let alone our economy? Where will we get the power to recharge these cars? Who is going to buy them? How do we know that battery production alone will not create worse environment conditions? Hybrids make up just over 2% of our cars yet the Malibu will sell about 200,000 this year at a base price just over $21,900.
