After today’s count there was no reference made as to how many ballots remain. As such the edge and uncertainty remains high in both camps as they await the final tally expected at the end of the week.
This is Murkowski territory without question. She has a long family background in politics and the name is well recognized. Even more significant is the fact that she currently is the incumbent. As such, it was commonly concluded that because of Miller’s late run, the absentee ballots being cast prior to his surge, logically the majority of these would go to her. Since his margin was less than 1,700, the estimated 20,000 still to be counted would put her ahead.
So far no luck for the incumbent. Mr Miller’s lead has fallen but only a few hundred votes. He now leads by 1,460 heading into the final count.
Obviously neither side is prepared to concede yet once again the power of Sarah Palin and the punch of the Tea Party have demonstrated their strength.
At this point it is important to focus on party unity regardless of the outcome. We are all here for an important cause and it is that effort which must be promoted in the end.
