Everyone is aware of today’s record unemployment levels and the majority realize the summer of recovery is yet another disaster. Moral leadership has not only vacated our Oval Office but has infected corporate America.
In this case we obviously are focusing on people with jobs. In their circumstances, how many positions are being either outsourced or cut back? What an environment in which to exist day to day, especially for those whose spouse has lost their position. Imagine the differences between what these people were doing 2yrs ago as opposed to today.
The employees are working longer hours for less money with more responsibilities. Even so, they are expected to pay increases on their medical coverage, give back 401K matches, and assume unpaid furloughs. These are the workers who have been carrying the load.
Patricia Powell (we were unable to locate anything about her) researched the employees and obtained the following poll results;
-48% plan to look elsewhere when the economy is stable
-40% say they have been treated unfairly/unethically
-59% feel too much has been demanded of them
-31% say the top dogs will be the only ones receiving bonuses
Keep in mind that we are experiencing some of the highest productivity this country has ever seen.
Today’s employees are looking at their companies as well as their bosses and asking what happened to the moral leadership they knew. They remember it very well because it just changed. The change has not united anyone and they are ready to run from it, planning their move away even now. They want their futures to return to what they once had.
