BP TAKEOVER HEAT IS ON: LASSIE COMES TO THE RESCUE
Nelson(D) was fanning the flames last week while Rahall(D) was demanding a ‘more in charge’ attitude. News media has been writing of shutdown, seizure of assets, and takeover for weeks. Former Clinton labor secretary Reich wrote a recent article explaining the auto and AIG takeovers in order to create solvency and requested the same for BP.
Eric Holder, who is still fighting for 9/11 trials to be held in New York, is being sent by the White House to New Orleans today to evaluate BP’s environmental issues as well as any laws which may have been violated in regard to the oil leak. All of this occurring after Salazar’s(D) comment, “We will keep our boot on their neck until the job gets done.”
In last week’s press conference Obama said: “I ultimately take responsibility for solving this crisis. I’m the president, and the buck stops with me.”
Even so the administration is firing bullets now only at ‘top kill’ but at the new procedure to be performed this week. Administration official Monday: “We’ve been increasingly frustrated with BP on matters of transparency. We’re not going to stand there while BP says there’s not going to be any increase in flow rate when they cut the riser.”
What sense does it make for Obama to takeover BP if he is not qualified to correct the problem?
WP: “Before BP attempted the top kill, for example, the federal government issued a statement saying it had given approval for the maneuver. Allen, the incident commander, has said that while BP is the “responsible” party, the federal government is “accountable” for the response and that there’s no meaningful way for the government to assume greater authority.”
Obama is in a corner today, he cannot blame BP as the situation stands nor would it be any different if he were to takeover the company. The only difference is control, something he cannot seem to get enough of. The legal and constitutional aspects have always been bypassed, government is running our economy and trying to overtake our health care. What has not failed thus far? BP has not yet been touched but look at the drop in it’s stock value.
The tea party has been pushing against the concept of big government as Lassie coming to the rescue. It only happens on TV. This is the real thing, we cannot ask Jeannie to stop the illegals from entering or to give jobs to everyone, or for all the energy we need from windmills…, deductive reasoning tells us we are responsible. It is time to throw this puzzle away and put it back together the way it was.
