NJ CHRISTIE: NO TAX INCREASES
Gov Christie walked into a spending deficit nightmare, created by his dem predecessor, thought to be unmanageable. In light of tax increases on the wealthy those who funded the state taxes fled New Jersey, leaving the state unable to collect revenues to apply against their ongoing debt.
Regardless of fewer revenues available to New Jersey slashes in spending as well as budget cuts have positioned them such that no new taxes will be necessary through fiscal 2011.
Anton Tsamas: “Taxing the millionaires sounds great. The only concern I have is the millionaires have the ability to take their money and leave.”
In the progressive spirit Corzine outright lied about tax increases in order to feed his spending habits.
Matt Rooney: ‘All smiles, Governor Jon Corzine signed New Jersey’s FY 2009 budget, hailing it as fiscally responsible. He claimed it contained no tax increases even while he was planning billion dollar toll increases and tax increases on commercial developments. He also signed an executive order that day which he later repealed that would have prohibited structural deficits. One week earlier, with much fanfare, he signed legislation creating a $650 million debt reduction fund (which he later spent without paying down debt).”
The GOP has been begging for the administration to simply eliminate spending. Like Corzine, Obama and the progressives have defied their requests. Gov Christie has proven yet again what can be accomplished through solid economic policy. Obama et al is not going to pay attention to the Tea Party or Americans, it is time they listen to our votes.
